Globalisation is now a reality. The movements across the political frontiers are no more limited to money, goods, business enterprises and people. Even ideas, cultures and information of all sorts move across the borders at breathtaking speed. The future belongs to people who understand the practical reality of a global market for ideas, jobs, products and services and are willing to compete in the international markets.

Internationalization of trade has been one of the major global trends during the post-world war-II period. It was the key factor for initiation of General Agreement on Tariff and Trade (GATT). Revolution in Telecommunication and Information Technology (IT) have facilitated the process of globalization. It is in this context that we view the existence and working of WTO; and its impact on Indian industry.

Institutions have a significant role to play in preparing individuals and business enterprises to understand and cope with globalisation and to spot emerging opportunities in a networked world. They can make essential Information on globalisation available to their constituents; as well disseminate vital information; and also train people to quickly spot opportunities and threats. They can also undertake research on the impact of globalisation on their constituents.

With a view to provide a regular forum of activities in International Trade education, training and research studies, the Ahmedabad Management Association and the Government of Gujarat jointly promoted the GoG-AMA Centre for International Trade at the Ahmedabad Management Association .

The Centre will operate at the Ahmedabad Management Association. An Hon. Coordinator will provide academic content and faculty support for the Centre. There will be an Advisory Board of experts drawn from Government / Industry / Business / Academic who will meet periodically and will provide necessary help and support to the Centre.
